Privacy Policy for Sticks

This Privacy Policy explains what information Sticks (“we”, “our”, “the app”) collects, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Username
- Password (stored in hashed form using bcrypt; we never store or have access to your plaintext password)
1.2 Gameplay data
When you play games, we collect and store on our servers:
- Game results (wins, losses, total games played)
- Round scores and individual dart scores
- Approximate dart landing positions on the dartboard (used to generate your personal heatmap)
- Score corrections you make during games
- Foul play occurrences detected during your games
- Unlocked dart throw combinations (for in-app collectibles)
1.3 Social features
If you use friend features, we store:
- Your friend connections (links between user accounts)
- Game invitations sent and received between friends
1.4 Camera data
The app uses your device’s camera to detect dart throws in real time.
- Camera frames are processed entirely on your device using on-device machine learning models
- Camera frames are never transmitted to our servers
- Camera frames are never stored, neither on your device beyond the moment of processing nor anywhere else
- Only the resulting numerical scores and approximate landing coordinates derived from the analysis are sent to our servers
1.5 Technical data
We do not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, location data, contacts, photos, microphone input, or any data outside what is listed above. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
We use the information described above only to:
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Provide the app’s core features: solo play, online matchmaking, local multiplayer, friend invitations
- Display your statistics, heatmap, and unlocked-throws collection
- Match you with other players for online games
- Detect and prevent foul play during games
We do not:
- Sell your information to third parties
- Share your information with advertisers
- Use your information for advertising or tracking across apps and websites
- Profile you for purposes unrelated to the app’s gameplay features
3. Data sharing
The only data shared with other users is:
- Your username (visible to opponents you are matched with, and to friends)
- Your public game statistics (games played, wins/losses, average score) — visible to opponents before a match begins and to friends
- The game state (scores, dart positions) during an active game with another player
We do not share your email address, password, or any other personal data with other users.
We may share data with our hosting provider (Railway.app) and database services strictly for the purpose of operating the app. These providers act as data processors on our behalf and do not use your data for their own purposes.
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.
4. Data storage and security
- Account and gameplay data is stored on servers operated by Railway.app, currently located in the European Union and/or United States.
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage.
- Data in transit between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/WSS (TLS).
- We retain your data for as long as your account exists.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no system is perfectly secure. You use the app at your own risk.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data (you can edit your password via the app; contact us for other corrections)
- Delete your account and all associated data at any time using the “Delete Account” function in the app’s Account screen. Deletion is permanent and immediate.

- Object to processing or withdraw consent — contact us at the email above
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (in Austria: the Austrian Data Protection Authority, dsb.gv.at)

6. Children
Sticks is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. International data transfers
If you use the app from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred to and processed in other countries. By using the app, you consent to these transfers.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via the app or by email.
